In 1988, the first Agricultural Cooperative of Asparagus production was founded in Kavala Nestos region.The purpose of the partnership was to develop and promote the cultivation of asparagus.The “AS Nestos”,which includes a group of producers,beyond the asparagus production,has gained dynamic activity in crops like kiwi,apricot,peach,nectarine and plum.
The “AS NESTOS” managed to gain recognition in international markets with quality products by boasting excellent environmental conditions as its area is protected by the RAMSAR treaty.
The expertise,the experience and the systematic effort of all the “AS NESTOS producers” have resulted in the high quality and safety of products offered to consumers.This is certified by the national and European provisions:

Asparagus is monocot, climbing or bushy plants, wild or cultivated as vegetables or ornamentals and are fleshy stems of the plant Asparagus officinalis family of Liliidon and belong to the same family as leeks, garlic and onions.
