Four Greek businesses – kiwi producers created high expectations for the opening of another market for the product
Greek kiwi in Montreal, Canada impressed many consumers and importers because of its rich taste, vivid color and perfect shape.
According to relevant information, the response of consumers and experts to the presence of four Greek business-kiwi producers (Agricultural Association Chrysochori NESPAR , Agricultural Association NESTOS, Alcyone, Gkoustera ) to the international SIAL Canada 2016 report was really enthusiastic, creating high expectations for the opening of another market for Greek kiwi.
The four institutions visited ,from 13 to April 15 the SIAL, one of the most important food fairs in North America, to boost the european product to the local market – and especially the Greek – Kiwi in the context of implementation of PREMIUM EUROPEAN KIWI program.
The mission was composed from the presidents of the organizations participating in the PREMIUM EUROPEAN KIWI program : Michael Xekarfotakis (AS NESPAR), George Panagiotidis (AS NESTOS), Achilleas Penlioglou (Alcyone), Dimitris Loutsigkas (Gkoustera) and its partners.
The team was accompanied by the Deputy Head of Region Rural Development of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Mr. Sotirios Papadopoulos.
The “stand” of PREMIUM EUROPEAN KIWI program ,one of the most impressive exposure both in size and design, has been well received by the visitors and other exhibitors, making an energetic start to the implementation of the three-year promotion program.
In their presence at SIAL Canada 2016 report, the participants held a meeting with the Consul General of Greece in Montreal, Mr. Nicholas Sigalas, the Director of Finance & amp; Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Ottawa, Mrs. Sousiopoulou Pelagia, the President of the Greek Community of Greater Montreal Mr. Nikolaos Pagonis and also many importers and Canadian market traders
At the same time, there was organized a sampling of kiwifruit in 10 central supermarkets for a period of five days. The program displayed screen hoardings at key points of the city and included special promotional event with menus designed and based on the kiwi, which impressed the bystanders.
Moreover, representatives of the Greek mission conducted more than 50 targeted B2B meetings with importers, brokers and distributors kiwifruit from Canada, the US and Asian countries. The project “Premium European Kiwi” is implemented by EU, national funds and excesses.The objectives are: a) The promotion of quality elements of European kiwi and b) Raising awareness of consumers about the benefits of kiwifruit consumption on the health of the organism Target-countries of the project are: Canada, the United Arab Emirates and the People’s Republic of China The design and implementation of project activities undertaken by the company Consultants WIN, with significant experience and expertise in co-funded export promotion projects agri products.
