It is noteworthy that the four enterprises from Kavala represent 12-13% of the domestic production of kiwi, while the three-year program has a budget of 3 million Euro.
The Canadian market has already called for sending 50 containers (ie 1,000 tonnes) in the first phase, while the four cooperatives, participate in the operation by producing about 20,000 tonnes of kiwi in the Nestos region.
Expectations of Kavala businesses are to switch their production to new markets, covering the ground lost to the embargo imposed in Russia, the market of which was fed with about 20 tons of mainly Greek (Kavala) kiwi.
